ATMOSFAR Early Access Roadmap: Every Planned Update
The ATMOSFAR Early Access roadmap: Vagabond, Rime, Blue Side and Singularity updates, the Scout Wasp, the third region, 1.0 timing and launch content.

ATMOSFAR launched in Early Access on 29 October 2026 with two of three regions. The roadmap names four updates — Vagabond, Rime, Blue Side and Singularity — before 1.0. The Rime update adds the Scout Wasp and the third region.
ATMOSFAR is an Early Access game with an unusually explicit plan. The developers have published both a content roadmap and a rough timeline, which makes it possible to judge the purchase on what is actually coming rather than on hope.
The launch build
At Early Access launch, ATMOSFAR includes:
- Two of the three regions, including the starting region Caligo Cays.
- Three Wasp classes: Utility, Hauler and Striker.
- The Cloud Cruiser with hull building, reactor power, lift, refineries, Wasp pads, plant beds and the material processor.
- Four-player online co-op and single-player.
- The current story arc, which is not concluded.
- An experimental branch for players who want to test unstable builds.
The third region and the Scout Wasp are explicitly post-launch. If those are the features you care about, waiting is a legitimate choice.
The four updates
1. The Vagabond Update
The first update is focused on quality of life and the player-facing experience:
- new items,
- player-facing features,
- and general improvements to the existing systems.
This is the "make the launch build comfortable" patch. It is the least flashy and probably the most important for retention.
2. The Rime Update
The headline update:
- Scout Wasp — the fastest, most fragile class, with scanners for resources and danger and a Geiger counter for reactor cores.
- Third region (Rime) — the cold upper layer, with new biomes and rare materials.
- Story continuation — the current arc moves toward its conclusion.
- New creatures and hazards tied to the upper layer.
Rime is the update that changes the map from two regions to three and completes the vertical structure the developers have described since the alpha.
3. The Blue Side Update
A systems update for the things you already own:
- new camp features,
- new Wasp features,
- and new Cloud Cruiser functionality.
The name suggests a focus on the ship and the aerial side of the game: more to do with the vessel you live in, rather than more map to explore.
4. The Singularity Update
The pre-1.0 systems pass:
- deeper mechanics,
- refinement of existing systems,
- and the remaining content needed to call the game finished.
The developers have not published a detailed feature list for this one. Treat it as "the last big systems update" rather than a content promise.
Timeline: how long is Early Access?
The store page states an Early Access period of roughly 9 to 12 months. That puts a 1.0 release somewhere in the second half of 2027, assuming the roadmap stays on schedule.
Two caveats:
- Early Access timelines slip. The 9–12 month estimate is a plan, not a contract.
- The price is expected to rise at 1.0. Buying during Early Access is cheaper than buying at launch, which is the standard trade for accepting an unfinished game.
What the roadmap does not promise
- No date for the Rime update. The order is known; the timing is not.
- No console version. The roadmap is PC-focused.
- No full mod support. The experimental branch is for testing, not a modding platform.
- No dedicated servers. Co-op is Steam-based.
If a feature is not on the roadmap, do not buy the game expecting it.
Should you buy now or wait?
Buy now if:
- you enjoy base-building and vehicle engineering more than combat,
- you are comfortable with jank, missing polish and systems that change,
- you want the lower Early Access price,
- and you have at least one friend to fly with.
Wait if:
- you want the complete story,
- you want the third region and the Scout Wasp,
- you need stable performance and a finished UI,
- or you only play single-player story games.
The launch build is a substantial sandbox. It is not a finished campaign.
How to follow the roadmap
- The Steam news hub is the primary source; the developers post patch notes and dev blogs there.
- The official site is
atmosfar.game. - Patch notes for the launch build already show the team's cadence: small hotfixes in the first days, then larger content updates.
- Be sceptical of roadmap summaries on aggregator sites. Dates and feature lists change.

FAQ
Is the game content-complete at launch? No. Two of three regions and an unfinished story arc.
When is the Rime update? Not dated. It is the second roadmap update, after Vagabond.
Will the price increase? The developers have said the price will rise at 1.0.
Is the experimental branch worth using? Only if you want to test unstable builds and report bugs. It is not the place for a main save.
Will there be mods? No mod support has been announced.
